بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

It is not often that one comes across specialised hifdh books which can provide benefit to teachers, students & parents alike. Even rarer, a publication which educates, informs the reader seeking to navigate through the precious hifdh journey – one which is distinguished by patience & perseverance.

Towards the year end, I happened across one such book alHumdulillah.

How-to-Memorize-the-Quran

Authored by Abdul-Salam Abdul-Hameed, the 89-page book entitled ‘How to memorize The Qur’an in 10 years’, is a comprehensive, practical guide on how every believer can (and should, in shaa Allah) memorise alQur’aan, regardless of age and profession.

Published by Safinah, Singapore, the book begins with a dedication & du’aa, after which  the first of three chapters  discusses the importance of alQur’aan & the need for Qur’aanic memorization during the computer age & the status of Huffaadh.

In chapter two, the author answers questions such as:

  • When & how to memorize
  • Suitable times during which to memorize
  • Road Map (an outline – which, as a teacher & hifdh mentor I found to be very beneficial for students goal-planning their hifdh journey ahead – of how the student’s hifdh journey may proceed in the duration of the next 10 years)

The last chapter explains the vital component of Muraja’ah (revision), often regarded by many a teacher as the ‘life-line’ in memorisation & retention.  The motivational stories & optimistic (yet realistic) approach by Sh. Abdul-Hameed will inspire students young and old.

In an age where  many a student has been discouraged or disillusioned in their personal hifdh journey and the emphasis sadly, has been on quantity over quality (viz: speeding through to complete memorization in the fastest time possible) ‘How to memorize The Qur’an in 10 years’ is a comprehensive, practical & compelling guide to inspire your heart towards Qur’aanic memorization, Because, no matter how long it takes, lways remember that each step is a means of drawing closer to Allah SWT (‘…Muslims memorize the Qur’an to get closer to Allah, pg. 16, Ch.1) and (‘…we may not be the best Huffaz, but with a little determination and effort, we can in sha Allah be authentic ones, pg.24,Ch.1).

I purchased my copy online via this page on Singapore’s Islamic Events Portal & received it soon thereafter in the mail. (Bear in mind that I currently live in neighbouring Malaysia, so please do check on worldwide postage / shipping queries with the company directly).

The author’s website can be viewed here & a facebook page with beneficial links and quotes.

If you’ve read this previewed book, please feel free to post your comments & thoughts; I’d love to hear from you!

Stay inspired!
